The Mixed_Convert vertical rectangle to 3D Box tool can be used to create 3D meshes that represent doors or windows. There are two placement modes available:
Manual Mode
Automatic Mode
Requirements:
For Manual mode: Select multiple vertical geometric rectangle objects that represent doors and windows and the Room Contour.
For Automatic mode: Select multiple vertical geometric rectangle objects that represent doors and windows and the walls' centerline (this can be generated using the Polyline_Wall Center tool).
Steps:
A. Select multiple vertical geometric rectangles that represent doors and windows in each room, along with the polyline that represents the wall centerline.
B. Execute the script and choose the Mixed_3D Doors and Windows option.
C. The script will prompt you to select a mode:
Manual Mode
Automatic Mode
Manual Mode:
This mode allows you to:
Create a 3D Mesh for each selected rectangular object (representing doors or windows).
Define the extrusion side of the 3D mesh — either on the Left or Right side relative to the direction of the Room Contour.
Specify the depth of each 3D Mesh individually, allowing accurate representation of door/window thickness.
Add an extension for both ends of the mesh. The extension adds extra length to both ends of the mesh while keeping the original depth
Automatic Mode:
Automatically extrude mesh based on all the selected rectangles and centerlines.
Add an extension for both ends of the mesh. The extension adds extra length to both ends of the mesh while keeping the original depth
Notes:
For the Automatic mode, it is mandatory to use the centerline generated via the Polyline_Wall Center tool. This centerline includes the wall thickness parameter, which is essential for the script to function correctly.
The extension needed for boolean operations, when the user would like to extract windows and doors from the wall mesh.
